I brought these guys an idle control valve issue our 2001 CR-V has been having for over a year. I came here after finding some excellent reviews on Nextdoor, discovering in the process that they are within walking distance. I’d already had trouble with my previous garage trying to charge $350 for the part without labor. That seemed ridiculous, so I went looking for the part myself and found a new aftermarket part on eBay for $35. The other garage installed it and returned the car without clearing the check engine light, (another issue, I thought, but an important one). The problem didn’t go away though, and after talking to the garage again, I decided to try someone different which led to Mike Larbre. Frank listened to my story, but wisely decided to view the problem with fresh eyes, starting with redoing the diagnostic. He also warned me about a poor success rate with aftermarket Idle control valves, saying i’d likely need to replace it again. Things did not look good in the early going. Frank delved into the car’s history and it was looking for a while like that check engine problem was a bigger issue than expected. We talked about replacing spark plugs and valve adjustments that might be needed..., potentially costing more than the value of the car. I had the talk with my wife and decided to go down to discuss our decision with Frank. When I came in, Frank told me that everything was apparently working. They’d managed to clear the check engine light (which was preventing the new valve from calibrating), and in reinitializing things, the new valve, my $35 eBay bargain had finally recalibrated and the car was running fine. All I had to pay was labor. Right now, I feel like I just dodged the proverbial bullet. In short, these guys are great and they have a new customer for life. They totally exceeded my expectations.
